ART+PUBLIC UnLtd was the lead programmer for the 2024 Canadian Arts Summit titled “Possible Futures/Futures Possibles.” The Summit is a gathering of senior art leaders, including artistic directors, executive directors and volunteer board chairs of Canada’s largest arts institutions.
The Downsview Lands Public Art Strategy

Jordan Bennett, OCAD University
We project managed a large-scale mural ‘pi'tawita'iek we go up river’ by Jordan Bennett, at 100 McCaul St., OCAD University, which grounds the space in Indigenous material culture.
Mulock Park Public Art Program
A new program of 7 public art commissions in a public park spanning 15 acres that symbiotically integrates architecture and landscape. Mulock Park will be the first example in Canada of municipality commissioned semi-permanent public artworks (3) that evolve overtime with the landscape, morphing and responding to natural elements.
Markham Public Art Summit
Co-curator of ‘Becoming Public Art: Working Models & Case Studies for Art in Public’, a nine-week virtual global summit presented by the City of Markham in 2020. The recordings have become essential resources for those interested in the practice of contemporary public art.
ArtworxTO Legacy Artist in Residence
Developed through extensive research and with input from the ArtworxTO Internal Working Group, the ArtworxTO Legacy Artist in Residence (AiR) program gets to the heart of embedding creativity in Toronto as a core element in city building, pairing a professional contemporary artist to work within a City of Toronto department. The inaugural artist, Maria Hupfield worked with the City of Toronto, Ravine Unit.
‘Radiant Journey’, Friends of University Ave
‘Radiant Journey’ reimagines University Avenue, from College Street south to Elm Street, with a 380-meter animated lighting installation synchronized by an audio feed. The lit forms create a visual wave that can be viewed from vehicular, pedestrian and by the patients, visitors and medical staff who inhabit the surrounding hospitals.
Joseph Sagaj, Seneca College
Award winning commission of a large scale terrazzo medallion called the ‘Circle of Indigenous Knowledge’ by Indigenous artist Joseph Sagaj embedded in the Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE) at Seneca College.
Ed Pien and Jay Soule, Daniels BAIF
We are working on a public art commissioning process for a Daniels BAIF corporation’s new development in Vaughan. Ed Pien and Jay Soule’s artwork ‘Circle of Life’ is a metal-cut sculpture, representing a river replete with salmon, as a celebration of the revitalization of life forces in this area.
‘We Are Shaped by the Obstacles We Face’, Legacy Art Project Toronto
A citizen-initiated and funded public project dedicated to the spirit of courage, determination, and action that Terry Fox embodied. Jon Sasaki and DTAH were selected to create a ground-breaking installation coming to the Toronto Waterfront in 2023. We assisted with opportunity identification, artist selection, contracting, and project management.
Toronto Metropolitan University
We project managed the University’s first large scale public art project by international artists that celebrates Indigenous placemaking. We are currently developing the first Public Art Policy for the University.
ArtworxTO
We worked on a Strategic Framework and programming for the City of Toronto’s Year of Public Art that supported over 1400 artists in the creation of more than 300 new works. This Strategy built and fostered new partnerships across arts, government and public sector, and expanded opportunities for artists and audiences.
Public Art at Unionville, City of Markham
In 2022 we conducted internal stakeholder engagement and defined the Direction for Public Art at Unionville that prioritized integrated public art to create connections along Main Street, Unionville and adjacent sites.
Pan Am Centre, City of Markham
A creative public engagement process that included a widely circulated survey, 5 visioning workshops and stakeholder interviews, resulting in a Community Engagement Report for the Markham Public Art Program with a focus on the Pan Am Centre site.
Calgary Arts Development Authority (CADA)
Advising the newly established Public Art program on an ongoing basis to support its successful transition from the City of Calgary. We have developed the Public Art Department’s Public Art as Commemorative Action Framework and are currently developing the Evaluation Framework and Engagement Strategy.
Art Gallery of Peterborough & City of Peterborough
A rigorous Environmental Scan that examines the governance relationship between public galleries and their municipalities.
Toronto Transit Commission
We are currently the public art consultants for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). We are responsible for running the RFP and jury artist selection processes as well as facilitating implementation and installation for new public art commissions in 12 subway stations over the next three years.
Humber Bay Shores Public Art
We worked collaboratively with the City of Toronto to conduct a Public Art Selection Process at Humber Bay Shores, which was tailored to address both the local neighbourhood and a broader community of indigenous artists. Led by our Indigenous Knowledge Broker, our facilitation of the selection process included process design, community and panel outreach, consultation, and creation of a public survey to gather feedback on 4 shortlisted proposals by Michael Belmore & Herman Mejia, Kris Nahrgang, Rebecca Baird and Nadia Myre.
Agincourt Mall Public Art Plan
A Public Art Plan for the redevelopment of Agincourt Mall in Scarborough that will transition to a mixed-use community that prioritizes the pedestrian experience.
North Toronto Collegiate Institute
We provided recommendations for immediate repair, longer term vandalism prevention strategies and a maintenance schedule for public artworks by Panya Clark Espinal, Ilan Sandler, and Catherine Widgery at the TDSB’s North Toronto Collegiate Institute.
