Assembly Park Public Art Plan and Outdoor Art Gallery
An award winning outdoor community space framed by shipping containers at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre that reinvents itself through its art program and temporal character, acting as a venue for multiple cultural and community functions.
The public art program at Assembly Park launched in spring/summer 2022 with an inaugural exhibition titled "Transitions" spanning 464 ft of shipping containers throughout The Gardens.
The Gardens at Assembly Park Outdoor Gallery - Transitions:
Change is a constant and the fluid moments between fixed states can foster rich experiences. The theme of transition honours the journey of Assembly Park and its current passage into the creation of a future community. Multidisciplinary and site-specific artworks on panels blur the boundaries of time, referencing the past and future while celebrating the present. This concept sees change as a series of points of connection, and is a tribute to the multiple ways that individuals form community within states of change and as we collectively experience transitions.
